Nic Latulippe is a self-taught photographer and experimental filmmaker whose work explores land, movement, and cultural identity. Rooted in the Rocky Mountains of Treaty 7 Territory (Canmore, Alberta) and working across Alberta and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ territories (Vancouver), he works exclusively with celluloid, blending documentary and introspective approaches. His long-term projects examine the evolving South Asian Canadian identity, shaped by tradition and westernization, the commodification of Canmore, and ranching and rodeo culture in Alberta.
Recently, Nic spent seven months in India reconnecting with his heritage, deepening his creative and cultural perspective. His newest project focuses on life in the Mumbai Local train system. Beyond his own projects, he co-leads Through the Lens, a darkroom photography program for youth in Banff, Canmore, and Mînî Thnî, mentoring in analog techniques and visual expression. His broader community work supports emerging photographers and fosters dialogue on identity and representation.
Through image-making and cultural engagement, Nic documents shifting identities and the evolving human experience.
